In homage to the late George Michael, this weekend’s X Factor dedicated the evening to the songs from the singer’s back -catalogue.
And Dermot O’Leary had a surprise for head judge Simon Cowell, as he suddenly unveiled a shot from the 80s of him dressed in full Wham! regalia.
The image flashed up on the screen as boy band Rak-Su finished their cover of George’s hit Faith, showing Simon with a flock-of-seagulls haircut, a tight white vest and braces.
This sent the crowd wild, naturally – with Simon insisting that it wasn’t him in the image.
This all followed a glowing critique from the judges about Simon’s boy band.
‘You’ve got two songs in the iTunes chart – I think there’s going to be three!’ Louis Walsh gushed, as Sharon told them group that they ‘Rak-Su’d it’.
She added: ‘George said he wanted his catalogue to go on for generations, and you have helped to do that.’
